I’m so in love with this show. But then again, I love all things Sorkin in the world. Also, I’m fangirling so hard for Jim and Maggie.
Goodness this is how every school year should start…but please know you have never failed your students…the system failed you.
Those who do not allow us to teach and challenge students are the real failures. I fail students when I seek the easy way out. Allowing conformity of thought to enter my classroom.
Start at 4:11. “The simple truth that nothing is more important to a democracy than a well-informed electorate…. We’ll endeavor to put information in a broader context… we’re not waiters in a restaurant serving you the stories just the way you like them prepared.. nor are we computers… news is only useful in the context of humanity… I’ll make no effort to subdue my personal opinions, I will make every effort to expose you to informed opinions that are different from my own.” SO much of that speech was about what I see as primary foundations of my teaching practice….
