It takes so little to make me happy. No, really; this morning, I am delighted by the fact that I can print directly to the photocopier from my computer. Also, I love our secretary; she and I laugh about something every single day. Also, I found this online; how much fun is THIS?! It’s all 23 helping verbs sung to the tune of Jingle Bells!
Helping Verbs! Helping Verbs! There are 23….
Am, is are! Was and were! Being, been, and be!
Have, has, had! Do, does, did! Shall, should, will, and would!
There are 5 more helping verbs: may, might, must, can, and could!
Guess what we’ll be singing in Writing Workshop class in a couple of weeks?
OK, 1) you’re such a geek, and 2) nice post title – isn’t that why Mr. C. married you?
I shall be glad to appropriate this jingle for my struggling learners, who don’t even know what a verb is, let alone one that helps!
Thank you!
Thank you! Love it and will be teaching it tomorrow!
At my school, we sing:
Is am are was were be being been have has had did do does may might must can coud shall should will would, du du du, these are the helping verbs
to the tune of “I know a man named Michael Finnigan.
OMG — I cannot WAIT to sing this to my kids. They will be singing it as well. I don’t care that it’s past Christmas — my classes will ring w/ the “joy” of helping verbs. Too fun! Thanks for posting this!
