Grammar Wednesday

I’m sorry, Everyone – I’m uninspired today.

A literature student sent me this email this morning:

I heard this on the radio and thought of you.  The word of the year for 2007 is…..  this.  Go look at this, what has the world come too???

If you go to the site, you’ll see the top ten words of the year, according to Merriam-Webster.   I’ve used half of them – can you guess which?

Happy Wednesday!

  1. Are you kidding me?? Woot? WTF? That sucks.

… and Facebook. That’s crap too.

I do like sardoodledom though and I think I’ll even try to throw it in from time to time in my Lit class next semester. Just seems like a fun word to say.

I’ll probably throw Blamestorming into my Senior Comp. class from time to time too….

  2. “w00t” is an uber word. It pwnz.

  3. Is it just me, or can a bunch of these words be used to discuss the current presidential administration?

  4. Organic Mama

Geez. Geek language that does what language always does, and morphs from one paradigm into another. According tot he biggest computer geek anyone EVER met, this word originally meant uber cyber BALLS, “I have the most w00t; look what system I just hacked!”

  5. Let’s play tag! (Not that you have to, of course, but games can be fun.)

  6. feather

W00t? Sucks. Though I’m ashamed to say how firmly “facebook” has integrated itself into my vocabulary as both a noun and a verb. I’m only on that site for the scrabble! … which is why I check it twenty times a day, yeah.

  7. i say that word SO often. seriously.

  8. Does this work? “Don’t be an apathetic hypocrite when you journey to facebook.. Be sure to wear a conundrum so that you won’t find yourself riding a quixotic blamestorm.” – Ted
